The CULTURAL DAYS of the European Central Bank (ECB) take place each year at the ECB’s headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. Their purpose is to present the cultural wealth and diversity of the EU Member States to the people of the Rhine-Main region, the staff of the ECB and visitors from Europe and other parts of the world.
The national central bank of the country that is showcased in a given year supports the ECB in devising and running a varied programme of music, literature, performance, art and photography, along with exhibitions, lectures and events for children.
In previous years the CULTURAL DAYS of the ECB have been dedicated to the cultures of Romania (2009), Greece (2007), Austria (2006), Hungary (2005), Poland (2004) and Portugal (2003).
In 2008 the European Central Bank celebrated its tenth birthday. To mark this anniversary, the CULTURAL DAYS of the ECB – EU 2008 focused on the concept of a united Europe and were therefore dedicated to all 27 EU Member States. The CULTURAL DAYS of the ECB - EU 2008 began on 14 May and finished on 2 June 2008.
The next CULTURAL DAYS will start on 20 October 2010 and will showcase the Netherlands
